Only me … Chairman’s update 19 May

Hi Everyone,Emma Evans

Hope you are all having a good week, i’ve been a busy bee as always but finally managed to fit in a trip to Harlow to see the annual EAF exhibition. It was truly inspirational and was very proud to see our very own members images holding their own amongst the very best of the East Anglia region.

Unfortunately we ended up getting rained off on Tuesday, but it didnt stop us all meeting for a swift half and some club related chatter.  » Continue reading Only me … Chairman’s update 19 May

Chairman’s Update 12 May 2013

Hi Everyone,

First up thanks to everyone who came along on Tuesday night to the bluebell woods, as always I managed to find out yet another thing about my camera and had a play with bracketing. Even though the light faded rather rapidly I know I will be able to use these techniques another time which I guess is the point of these evenings after all.

So things to tell you all  » Continue reading Chairman’s Update 12 May 2013

Extending the Summer Programme

We’ve just been offered a great opportunity to do some garden photography with a difference. As ever the problem with garden photography, when it’s not your own garden, is getting access at the right time of day, when the sun is low, the light soft…

We’re being offered access to Hopley’s Garden Centre one evening at the end of June, while the Guruve Zimbabwe Sculpture Exhibition is on to see what we can make of it. This is the same week as the Club annual Solstice dinner at The Red Lion in Finchingfield, so will be on Thursday night instead of the usual Tuesday.

Hope to see you there

Club success at EAF Exhibition

As was mentioned in the Herts and Essex Observer we had 4 photos accepted for the EAF exhibition at the Gibberd Gallery in Harlow 2 DPI and 2 prints.

As I was on the club trip to Hereford on Saturday when the Exhibition opened I sallied forth on Tuesday to see what we had been up against. The selection was certainly well worth a look, as was the general impression of what sort of work is going through at this level.

It was largely a Photoshop Exhibition, with lots of very obvious “Oil Paint” filter (CS6 pixel-bender add-on from Adobe Labs), compositing and Topaz Adjust going in to achieve the final results. There was also much less of the extreme grunge from 2-3 years ago, and of course a celebration of last year’s “Summer of Sport.” As is usual for the EAF there were also plenty of Natural History shots, which are of course not retouched

It will take you slightly more than one hour to go round and also look at the slideshow, so go for the 3 hour £1 parking and take your time.

Quiz night successes

Last Saturday we had a very successful quiz night fundraiser for the Projector Fund. 11 teams battled it out, some concentrating on the quiz, some having more fun building towers of Coke Cans, no matter a good time was had by all.

At half time Emma’s (family) team brought out a splendid ploughman’s supper, . . . → Read More: Quiz night successes
