We’ve had the fowling appeal for assistance from Contexture Theatre who are organising the event for the council:
Bishop’s Stortford’s unique May Games celebration is under a week away and we need your help.
We’ve got an amazing day planned – our professional cast are busy rehearsing for their street performances, our team of supporters are sewing costumes and making props and the Fayre in Monastery Gardens is slowly taking shape. Read all about it in this Observer article
But we need some extra help to make it happen.
Could you spare some time on Sunday 17th May to help the event go smoothly? You could be act as a steward during our plays, run one of the stalls with children’s activities or help just us set up and clear away
May Games is a celebration of the people, put on by the community, for the community. Your involvement would help to make it truly special.
If you can help at any time during the day, please get in touch on 01279 461285 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
The Camera Club has already agreed to try to capture the fun of the event, please contact Andrew Macpherson on 843188 who will try to co-ordinate photographic effort
A quick meeting, with no proposals to consider, the various reports were accepted nem.con. all committee posts were filled from those standing without requiring election, and the final line-up can be seen on the committee page of this site.
A new Cup is to be purchased in memory of our long serving President George Dann. The George Dann Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the photographer who scores best across all our annual competitions: Mono Print, Colour Print and Projected Digital. We hope this will encourage members to take part in all three formats, and to continue with a style all season, even if they get a bad mark from one judge.
The new Honorary President is John Hosford, and Honorary Vice Presidents are Bill Edwards and Jean Platt
Themes for the Photo Task were voted on by the outgoing committee, each voting for as many or few as they liked, and were chosen on the basis of a simple majority of support. The chosen themes were
- Dawn Landscape
- Close Up
- Long Exposure
I should point out that the final theme is Bridges not Bridge or Bridge(s), please bear this in mind when selecting your entry
The themes are also listed at the top of the programme page
On 14th April we hosted the annual multibattle versus Cambridge, Hertford, Moulsham Lodge and Saffron Walden. There were some really high quality entries from all clubs with Hertford taking the DPI section with 88 out of a possible 100 and Saffron Walden taking the print section with a remarkable 95 out of a possible 100. Cambridge, however, showed great consistency with a total score of 174 out of 200 to win the overall title.
Thanks go to Mike Fuller the judge.
